Lidl overtakes Aldi in alcohol share

Lidl has gained the most ground in the take-home beer and wine sales war in the year to last December. Lidl has gained the most ground in the take-home beer and wine sales war in the year to last December.

Tesco increased its lead to 26.1% of all sales in the take-home beer and wine market in the 52 weeks to 9th September this year according figures supplied exclusively to Drinks Industry Ireland by Kantar Worldpanel.

This compares with a 25.9% share in the 52 weeks to the 10th September 2017.

In second place SuperValu enjoyed a market share of 24.6%, up from 23.7% while Dunnes Stores took third place with 16.7%, decreased from 17.9% the previous year.
