CCPC issues price-list notices to Dublin pubs
The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) has published details of 18 new enforcement actions taken against traders across Cork, Donegal, Dublin, Mayo and Offaly for breaches of consumer protection legislation, including several pubs in Dublin city centre.

Non-compliance with a CCPC notice is considered an offence and can result in prosecution
The actions follow inspections and investigations carried out both in-store and online by CCPC officers, highlighting ongoing enforcement across multiple sectors of the Irish economy.
Patrick Kenny, member of the CCPC, emphasised the importance of compliance for pubs and other hospitality venues: “Whether you’re a retailer, a publican or an influencer, you must comply with consumer law.
“Our officers carry out hundreds of inspections and investigations each year to ensure consumer rights are upheld across the economy. Displaying prices is a basic requirement for all hospitality operators.”
The notices serve as a reminder to publicans that all price lists must be clearly visible to customers.
Non-compliance with a CCPC notice is considered an offence and can result in prosecution.
The CCPC also highlighted the forthcoming introduction of direct fining powers, which will allow for more significant enforcement measures against non-compliant operators.
Reports from customers and industry intelligence continue to play a key role in identifying patterns of non-compliance, reinforcing the importance of transparency and legal adherence in the hospitality sector.
