PSA inspections to be active around Christmas

The Private Security Authority (PSA) and An Garda Síochána will be conductinginspections across the country in the coming weeks to ensure that all security guards anddoor security staff are licensed and wearing ID.

"These inspections are to ensure that the current high compliance rates are maintained and improved,” stated PSA Chief Executive Geraldine Larkin, “Nationally the compliance rate with contractor licensing is almost 100 per cent, with Individual licensing it is over 95 per cent and the compliance rate for the wearing of the ID badge is almost 90 per cent”.

The PSA is keen to ensure that only licensed contractors and staff are deployed during the busy Festive period and any breaches found will result in prosecutions against those employing unlicensed contractors and individuals as well as the security service providers themselves, she added.
