Oliver Loomes appointed Guinness Global Brand Director

Oliver Loomes, Marketing and Innovation Director at Diageo Ireland, has been made Global Brand Director for Guinness, replacing Brian Duffy who recently became Diageo’s Global Beer Category Director for the company.

Guinness, the world’s number one stout, is brewed in 50 countries and sold in 150, achieving volume sales of 11.1 million equivalent units in fiscal 2010. It is one of the three company’s brands to generate £1billion in organic net sales in fiscal 2010, contributing approximately 12 per cent of Diageo’s total net sales in the last financial year.

Oliver has been with Diageo 12 years having previously been Head of Spirits and Lagers in Ireland wherre he played an integral role in the revitalisation of the lager category with key brands including Bud, Carlsberg and Harp. He also  led the development and organisation of Guinness’s 250th anniversary celebrations here in 2009 as well as the Arthur’s Day celebrations last year. His replacement has yet to be announced.
