Off-trade alcohol prices up 3.4%

Off-trade alcohol prices were up 3.4% in March compared to March 2013.

 

This comprised a rise of 8.2% in off-trade spirits prices, a rise of 1.2% in wine prices and a 5% increase in beer prices according to the latest CSO figures.

Compared to the previous month, February, March’s off-trade alcohol prices were up 0.2% comprising a 2.3% drop in spirits prices, a 1.8% rise in wine prices and a decrease of 1.1% in the price of beer.

Overall, alcohol prices rose 3.5% in the year to March 2014.

When compared to February, alcohol prices were up 0.1% and when the three-month period Jan-March is compared with the Oct-Dec 2013 period, alcohol prices were up 2.1%.
