January bar sales up 10.6%
The volume of retail sales in bars was up 10.6% in January compared to January 2015 according to provisional CSO figures just published, while bar sales values rose 10.9% over the same period.
Final figures for December 2015 show that bar sales volumes were up 4.7% compared to December 2014 while sales values were up 5.1%. December volumes were down 0.8% in bars when compared to the previous month November with values correspondingly down 0.7%.
Over the three-month period November-January bar sales volumes were up 6.7% when compared with the same three months a year previously while values showed growth of 7.1%.
Compared to the previous three-month period (August-October), sales volumes in bars showed growth of 1.4% while values grew 0.7%.
