Foley’s Bar sells to Ciaran Carron consortium

Foley’s Bar & Restaurant on Dublin’s Merrion Row has been sold on the instructions of the Receiver David O’Connor of BDO. The sale price of the premises, which was offered for sale with a guide price of €2.75m, was not disclosed by the agents CBRE but it’s understood to be the highest price paid for a Dublin pub in the past four years.

CBRE’s John Hughes confirmed that Foley’s was purchased by a business consortium headed by Monaghan businessman Ciaran Marron.

Incorporating Reilly’s traditional bar with dual frontages to Merrion Row and Merrion Street, the premises occupy a commanding trading location at the intersection of Merrion Row, Merrion Street and Baggot Street in the heart of the city.

Those who’ve frequented the premises have included Sara Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick. In 1995 Prime Minister John Major and Taoiseach John Bruton visited the pub prior to a reception at Government Buildings.

Foley’s is a substantial four-storey-over-basement licensed premises and includes a ground floor lounge bar with two entrances from Merrion Row. Overhead is a self-contained lounge, a private dining room and Queen Maebhs Restaurant together with fully-equipped catering kitchen and offices.

The premises also have a self-contained three bedroom residence which has a separate hall door from Merrion Street.
