€0.5m-worth of taxi vouchers for Dublin bars & restaurants

Over half-a-million €uro-worth of taxi vouchers are being distributed by bars, clubs and restaurants throughout Dublin this month as part of a joint campaign by drinkaware.ie and Hailo Taxis.

Over 100,000 wallet-sized cards, each containing a €5 discount voucher for a Hailo taxi, will be available to people in Dublin during December. “By installing the Hailo app before a night out, people can make sure that they have easy access to a taxi,” explained drinkaware.ie Chief Executive Fionnuala Sheehan, “Hailo is Dublin’s largest taxi network and allows users to call a taxi to their current location with just two taps on a smartphone. This means they won’t have to stand in a taxi queue on their own or end up walking around town alone trying to flag one down on the road”.

The vouchers are exclusively available to customers of Jo’Burger Town, Jo’Burger Rathmines, Skinflint, Bear and Crackbird from December 3rd to Dec 5th and will be available in additional participating Dublin venues for the rest of the month.

The campaign focuses on promoting a great night out while reminding people to pace themselves and ensure they get home safely for the reality is that many consumers still go out without any thought of how much they’re going to drink or how they’re going to get home.

“This Christmas, drinkaware.ie is encouraging people to slow down, pace themselves and make sure that they stay safe on the way home,” stated Fionnuala Sheehan, “Although recent studies have shown that Irish people drink less often than our European counterparts, we still tend to drink too much and too fast on any single occasion. Simple things like pacing yourself with water between drinks and eating before you start drinking will allow you to enjoy a night out for longer and also make sure that you get home safely afterwards.”

The Hailo app for Android or iOS can be downloaded from hailoapp.com and vouchers can be picked up from participating venues in Dublin. Voucher codes can also be downloaded from the drinkaware.ie Facebook page at facebook.com/drinkaware.ie.
