Double Gold for Powers 12 Year-Old Special Reserve

Powers 12 Year-Old Special Reserve won a Double Gold Medal at this year’s San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

The oldest, largest and most-recognised annual spirits competition held in the US, the 2011 event saw a record-breaking 1,106 premium spirits submitted from 61 countries.

Speaking of the win, Suzanne Lawlor, Senior Brand Manager for Powers Whiskey, said, “Powers 12 Year-Old is a wonderfully unique, full-bodied whiskey, a very special, premium edition of Powers Gold Label.  Our whiskeys are world class, but it’s a real achievement to earn the highest recognition from leading industry experts in such a prestigious competition”.

Powers 12 Year-Old Special Reserve has that Irish characteristic, a strong pot still presence, accounting for its classic Powers spicy, honeyed, full-bodied flavor.

Aged solely in American oak barrels, the extra time in wood transforms it, giving it an extra maturity, subtlety and softness.
Launched as a special one-off in 2000 to commemorate the Millennium, Powers 12 Year-Old quickly made its mark with whiskey lovers and remained in production due to its popularity.

Powers 12 Year-Old achieved its Double Gold accolade through a blind, consensual judging procedure which ensures competitive integrity. Thirty-three prominent spirits connoisseurs convened for judging at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, bringing together some of the finest spirits palettes working in the industry today.
