Bar sales up in July

Retail sales in bars in July were up 3.2 per cent in value and by 3.3 per cent in volume compared to June, according to seasonally-adjusted provisional CSO figures. However they were down in volume by 0.7 per cent and by 0.4 per cent compared to the previous July 2010.

Final figures for June indicate bar sales values up 2.7 per cent and volumes up 2.1 per cent on May while volumes were down 6.1 per cent and values were down 6.0 per cent on June 2010.

Over the three months May to July volumes were up 0.6 per cent and values were down 0.1 per cent on the previous February to April period while they were down 4.7 per cent and 4.6 per cent respectively over the  sales figures for the previous year.
