Temple Inns’ profit jumps 32%

Pre-tax profits at Temple Inns Ltd, the holding company for Tom Cleary’s Temple Bar pub, jumped 31.6% from €2.1 million in 2014 to €2.7 million in 2015 according to the company’s latest set of accounts to the end of October 2015.

Turnover grew 19% from €7.5 million to €8.9 million leading to operating profits of €3.4 million being declared.

The popular Temple Bar hostelry paid out €2.3 million in wages, salaries and pension costs (including those of the Directors Tom and Jackie Cleary of €360,819, up from 2014’s €326,819). The total figure for the company’s pensions and salaries was up 10% on the €2.1m figure for 2014 as the pub expanded into retail activity through its Distillery Store which offers Irish, Scotch and some very rare whiskeys to the public.
