SuperValu & Dunnes catching up on Tesco

SuperValu and Dunnes Stores were again the only two major retail chains to grow their share of the take-home beer and wine market in the year to October 9th according to Kantar Worldpanel.

As SuperValu increased its share of the take-home beer and wine market from 22.6% to 23.9%, accompanied by a growth in share from 15.5% to 17.1% from Dunnes Stores, beer and wine take-home leader Tesco saw its market share slip 1.1 percentage points from 27.4% to 26.3%.

Meanwhile Aldi level-pegged on share while Lidl slipped from 13.0% to 11.5% during the period in question.

‘Others’ also lost share from 9.5% to 9.2%.
