September bar sales up 2.8%

Bar sales volumes rose by 2.8% in September compared to September 2016 according to the latest seasonally-adjusted provisional figures from the CSO, with volumes up by 0.1% on the August 2017 figure.

Annual bar sales values rose by 5.0% with values up by 0.4% in September compared to the previous month, August.

Final figures for August indicate a 5.0% rise in bar sales volumes for the year with a rise of 0.7% in August over the July figure. Bar sales values were up 7.2% annually and by 0.7% over July.

Across the three-month period July to September bar sales volumes showed growth of 3.4% while bar sales values were up 5.6% when compared to the same period in 2016.

When the July-September period is compared to the preceding three-month period April to June, bar sales volumes were up 2.0% and values were up 2.9%.
