Prado’s Daniel wins Golden Shaker

Daniel Wieliczko from Prado in Clontarf, Dublin, emerged the overall winner of the fourth Golden Shaker Cocktail Challenge, sponsored by Re'al Infused Syrups and Finest Call Cocktail Mixes, which took place in The Betsy, Swords, County Dublin, recently.

Daniel’s cocktail, ‘Phantom’s Dream’, was made using 4cl Strawberry Gin infused with Cranberry, 1cl Kwai Feh, 3cl Finest Call Strawberry Puree, 2cl Raspberry Re’al Puree & 1cl Finest Call Lime Juice.

Ten cocktail bartenders were selected from all the entries received to compete in the final and this year’s challenge had a movie theme. Each bartender had to create an original cocktail recipe using Re’al Infused Syrup or Finest Call Cocktail Mixes & Purees and describe how the movie inspired their cocktail.

Props and costumes were used by several finalists.

Daniel received a Golden Shaker and €1,000 prize money.

In second place came Laura Gier of Dublin’s Dylan Hotel with her cocktail, ‘Valley of Ashes’, consisting of 1.5cl Re’al Blue Agave Nectar, 5 dashes Peychauds Bitters, 1.5cl Fresh Lemon Juice, 1.5cl Green Chartreuse and 5cl Tullamore Dew 12yr.

Oisin Kelly of Sidecar Bar @The Westbury in Dublin came third with his cocktail, ‘Soliloquy’, made with 4cl Hendricks Midsummer Solstice Gin, 1.5cl Cocchi Americano, 1.5cl Peach Re’al and 2 dashes of Campari.
