On-trade prices up 0.3%

Prices in licensed premises rose 0.3% over the year which comprised a 0.5% rise in spirits prices and those for soft drinks & mineral waters, a 0.4% rise in wine prices and a 0.3% rise in beer prices according to CSO figures released recently.

Compared to November 2014, prices in licensed premises remained on par, with spirits and wine prices rising by just 0.1% while beer prices remained level and prices for soft drinks & mineral waters fell by 0.1%.

The price of alcoholic beverages in the off-trade rose 0.9% in the 12 months to December 2014 with price trends indicating a 2.5% decrease in December 2014 compared to November 2014. The annual price increase comprised a 0.5% increase in off-trade spirits prices, a 2.0% increase in wine prices and a 0.6% decline in beer prices. The monthly price fall comprised a 5.5% decrease in spirits, a 1.9% decrease in wine and a 2.3% decrease in beer.

Nightclub admission prices remained on a par with November but were down 0.9% over the year.
