May bar sales values up 5%

Retail sales in the Bar sector fell 3.2% in volume last month compared to May 2018 according to the latest seasonally-adjusted provisional figures from the CSO while values showed a decrease of 0.3%.

 

 

 

However bar sales volumes were up 4.5% on the previous month, April, while values were up 5.0%.

Final figures for April indicate a 10.2% drop in bar sales volumes compared to April last year and a 7.0% drop in values. Compared to the previous month, March, April’s bar sales were down 6.5% in both volume and value.

Over the March to May quarter, bar sales volumes showed an annual decrease of 4.8% with a corresponding value decrease of 1.5%. Bar sales volumes were also down in the March to May quarter by 0.5% on the previous December 2018 to February 2019 quarter with values down 0.1%.
