Lidl gains market share

Discounter Lidl made the most progress in gaining share in the takehome beer and wine market in the year to 17th June, gaining 1.8 percentage points to 12.2% according to the latest Kantar Worldpanel figures on takehome beer and wine supplied exclusively to Drinks Industry Ireland.

Tesco’s share of the takehome beer and wine market grew again in the year to 17th June, going from 26.2% in the year to June 18th 2017 to 26.3% in the year just passed.

SuperValu too gained market share in the year with its takehome beer and wine share growing by 0.5% to 24.2% while Dunnes Stores share fell, this time going from 17.7% to 16.5%.

The other discounter, Aldi, saw a fall in market share to 10.6% from 11.5% the previous year.
