January sales volumes up

Sales volumes in bars rose 2.7% and values were up 3.3% in January compared with January 2016 according to provisional seasonally-adjusted CSO statistics, published recently.

Compared to the previous month, December, sales volumes were up 0.6% and values were up 1.9%. The CSO’s seasonally adjusted final figures for December indicate that bar sales volumes were up 1.4% as values rose 2.4% on December 2015 while they were down 0.3% in volume compared to November 2016 but up 0.2% in value.

Over the three months from November 2016 to January 2017, the CSO’s seasonally adjusted provisional figures show bar sales volumes up 1.9% on the same three-month period in 2015, with values up 3.0%.

Compared to the previous August to October three-month period in 2016 sales volumes were 1.0% down in the November/January period while values fell 0.8%.
