It’s Amsterdam for Heineken’s Sharon Walsh

Sharon Walsh, Marketing Director at Heineken Ireland, has been made Global Director for Cider with Heineken nv and has moved to Amsterdam, reporting directly to Jan Derck van Karnebeek, Heineken’s Chief Commercial Officer.

As Global Director for Cider, Sharon will shape Heineken’s global cider business to grow category revenue, market share and penetration, leveraging the expertise of Heineken’s cider assets from the UK, New Zealand and Cidrerie Stassen. She’ll work alongside Heineken’s global markets to develop models and strategies that grow the company’s cider category and will also be responsible for leading Heineken’s cider innovation models and activities.

Sharon joined Heineken Ireland from Diageo Ireland in 2011 having previously worked in senior roles at UDV, Diageo and Coca-Cola. She was made HI’s Marketing Director in 2012 and was instrumental in unlocking business growth with successful additions to the portfolio including Desperados, Heineken Light and Cute Hoor. She also drove Heineken’s innovation strategy with the successful launch of Orchard Thieves in 2015. This success has sparked a rollout of the brand across Europe.

Her work won her a finalist place in the 2007 Marketing Institute of Ireland’s Marketer of the Year. And at this year’s All Ireland Marketing awards the Heineken Ireland crew won the team award as a result of its work on the launch of Orchard Thieves cider.

Sharon holds a Masters in Strategic International Marketing from DCU.

Her replacement will be announced in coming weeks.
