Heineken, Official Worldwide Partner to Rugby World Cup 2019 in Japan, recently welcomed friends, fans and famous faces at Meeting House Square, Dublin, for the official launch of the rugby tournament.

It was hosted by Mario Rosenstock who featured ‘The Mauling of Stephen Ferris’ and a very special karaoke competition where one fan won a trip to Rugby World Cup 2019 in Japan to see Ireland take on Scotland on Sunday 22nd September at the International Stadium Yokohama.

As Irish rugby legend and Heineken ambassador Stephen Ferris was put through his paces by Mario and friends who looked back on the former Ulsterman’s career, no scrum cap was left unturned for the Mauling as former Ireland and Munster man Alan Quinlan, veteran of three Rugby World Cups Mal O’Kelly, former Irish Captain (and Rugby World Cup legend) Fiona Coughlan and Stellar Comedian of the Year 2017 Andrea Farrell all repeatedly crossed the try-line with their comedic mockery of Stephen.

Greg Starr was crowned the winner on the night as five finalists, chosen through social media, then battled it out in the karaoke competition – Star in Japan – to win a place on the plane to see Ireland vs Scotland at Rugby World Cup 2019..

The tournament takes place for the very first time in the Land of the Rising Sun.

“We’ve a long association with rugby, especially the social side, driven by fans, which is an integral part of the Heineken brand,” said Heineken’s Senior Brand Manager for Sponsorships & Music Ronan McCormack, commenting on the launch.

The kick-off will take place at the Tokyo Stadium on September 20th.
