Fountain-beat it

Many might be curious as to why Conor Kenny’s latest book Dancing At The Fountain is so named.

The book – published before Christmas – talks to seven of the world’s leading hoteliers as they recount some of the stories they have to tell about guests.

The intriguing title was inspired by one of the participants in the book, Frenchman Luc Delafaosse, who was General Manager of the world-famous Burj Al Arab in Dubai at the time.

Michael Jackson had been staying at the hotel and as he was leaving – in Luc’s own words – “On the way out of the hotel, at the top of the escalators, we passed near the fountain with the sequenced water display like a ‘musical’ show. Arriving at the fountain, Michael Jackson started to follow the tempo, snapping his fingers and suddenly started dancing around the fountain – unique! Special and fantastic!”

….Much like the book itself, no doubt.
