Dunnes grows share of beer & wine sales

Tesco continues to lose its grip on the takehome beer and wine market with its share of this market dropping from 26.4% to 26.3% in the year to 3rd December according to Kantar WorldPanel figures supplied exclusively to Drinks Industry Ireland.

Similarly SuperValu lost share, going from 23.9% to 23.4% while Dunnes Stores gained share to 17.6% from 17.2% during the year. Both Aldi and Lidl lost ground going from 11.8% to 11.2% and from 11.1% to 10.9% respectively.

The only other winners as such were the ‘others’ – which Kantar describes as “all take-home alcohol bought outside of the main five retailers such as symbols, off-licences, independents etc” – which grew share from 9.6% to 10.6%.
