A series of seven such regional events has been taking place around Ireland to announce the 63 finalists.

The Irish Pub Awards are jointly presented by the Licensed Vintners Association and the Vintners Federation of Ireland.

At over 520 direct submissions, the number of entries for these awards is up on last year.

Speaking at the Awards the Chairman of the Licensed Vintners Association Alan Campbell pointed out that some 88% of visitors to Ireland spend some time in an Irish pub.

“It’s also where tourists meet locals and enjoy Irish hospitality at its best and these Awards are an excellent vehicle to showcase what the pub has to offer the modern customer,” he added.

The prize package for all finalists includes a management training course to help them progress their business further.  They’ll also avail of comprehensive media coverage at local and national level including a feature in the special awards supplement published in the Irish Independent on the day of the Gala Awards Ceremony.

The Awards are sponsored by Bank of Ireland Payment Acceptance, IMRO, Molson Coors, Bulmers, Heineken, Diageo, Hennessy, Musgrave MarketPlace and Irish Distillers-Pernod Ricard.

The Awards partners are Febvre Wine Company, with Media Partners Independent Newspapers and Trade Media Partners Drinks Industry Ireland magazine. The Management Development Partner is Skillnet Ireland.
