CATEX 2015 hots up!

The 50th CATEX takes place at the RDS, Dublin, from 17-19th February.

The three-day event includes competitions from The Bartenders Association of Ireland, The Specialty Coffee Association of Europe (Irish Chapter) and Chef Ireland.

Ireland’s top baristas will compete in the finals of the Irish Barista Championship, the Irish Latte Art Championship and the Irish Cup Tasters Championship in a packed schedule of events.

Ireland’s coffee professionals will battle to become National Champions and earn the right to represent Ireland in the World Barista Championship in Seattle on the 9th-12th April as well as the Latte Art Championship and World Cup Tasters Championship (World of Coffee Gothenburg, 16th-18th June). 

Meanwhile mixology masters from across the country will shake up the stage when they gather for three major cocktail competitions organised by the BAI and sponsored by Edward Dillon & Co, run over the three days.

Taking place on Tuesday, 17th February, The National Hospitality Student Cocktail Challenge 2015 sees students from Institutes of Technology across Ireland put their skills to the test as they vie to become student champion. The National Cocktail Championship 2015 will bring the country’s top bartenders together on Wednesday 18th February competing to win the right to represent Ireland at the World Cocktail Championship in Sofia, Bulgaria, in the Autumn.

In a new addition to the competition schedule, on Thursday 19th February the BAI and Edward Dillon & Co will launch a new ‘no rules’ cocktail competition.

Getting hot in the kitchen will be the country’s most talented chefs who’ll engage in a series of competitions including the Contract Caterers Chef’s Challenge and the all-new Inter-College Competition.

“This will be the largest CATEX many of us have ever seen,” commented Irish Foodservice Suppliers Alliance Chairman Sean Martin.
