Bar sales volumes up 5.6%

Bar sales rose 5.6% in volume last April when compared to sales in April 2016 according to seasonally-adjusted provisional figures from the CSO, published recently.

Bar sales values also rose by 6.5% during this time. The provisional figures show a monthly volume increase in bar sales of 1.6% in April compared to March and an increase in bar sales values of 2.1%.

Final figures for March indicate an annual rise in bar sales volumes of 4.4% and a 5.4% rise in values. Compared to the previous month, February, bar sales showed an increase of 1.3% in volume and 0.5% in value.

Across the three-month period February to April this year seasonally-adjusted bar sales volumes were up on the same period in 2016 by 4.3% while values rose 5.3% according to the CSO. Bar sales were up 2.4% in volume on the previous November 2016 to January 2017 period and they were up 2.3% in value.
