Ariel’s Japanese Garden a winner

Ariel Sanecki of Adare Manor Hotel in Limerick scooped the top award at the National Championships & Bartender Awards 2018 held at the Food & Bev Live in Citywest, Dublin, with his cocktail ‘Japanese Garden’.

This annual event was organised by the Bartenders Association of Ireland and sponsored by Edward Dillon & Co for the ninth year in a row.

Ariel will now represent Ireland at the World Cocktail Championships in Tallinn, Estonia, between 1st and 6th October this year having previously represented Ireland at the World Cocktail Championships in Tokyo in 2016 where he won a Silver Medal.

Some 42 bartenders competed out of an entry of 51 recipes received.

This year the BAI invited Hidetsugu Ueno from Bar High Five, Ginza, Tokyo, to judge the Championships.

Hidetsugu, famous for his diamonds carved from ice and his unique Japanese style of bartending, won the title of International Bartender of the Year at Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans.

Finishing in second and third place were Federico Destro of The Blind Pig Speakeasy and Oisin Kelly of The Little Pig Speakeasy, both in Dublin.

Edward Dillon’s Commercial Director John Cassidy was on hand to present the awards to the winning bartenders accompanied by Dillon’s Brand Advocacy Manager Alan Kavanagh.
