All-round improvement in bar sales

The latest seasonally adjusted provisional bar sales figures for April from the CSO show an all-round improvement for the country’s licensed trade.

Sales volumes in bars showed a 5.5% increase in April compared with April 2015 while values rose 6.3%.

Compared to the previous month, March, April’s sales volumes were up 0.9% while values were up 1.2%.

Final figures for March show seasonally adjusted bar sales volumes up 5.9% compared to March 2015 while bar sales values rose 6.4%.

Bar sales volumes were up 1.5% in March compared to the previous month, February, while bar sales values showed a rise of 0.7%.

Over the February to April quarter bar sales volumes grew 5.5% when compared to the same three-month period in 2015 while bar sales values rose 3.2%.

Bar sales volumes were up 0.6% when the February to April quarter is compared to the previous November 2015 to January 2016 quarter with bar sales values up 0.3%.
