2 pubs get Closure Orders

The Millrace Hotel in Bunclody, County Wexford and the Milebush Bar and Restaurant in Mountmellick Road, Portlaoise, County Laoise, were two of three outlets subject to a Closure Order last month.

The closed activity at The Millrace covered all food preparation and service activities in and from the kitchen and ancillary stores as well as in the main bar and the storeroom at the rear of the main bar while that for the Milebush covered preparation and service of food.

During the same month, a successful prosecution was taken against Kearney’s Castle Hotel in Cashel’s Main Street by the HSE.

Altogether the Food Safety Authority of Ireland reported that 10 Closure Orders and one Prohibition Order had been served on food businesses during the month of March for breaches of food safety legislation, pursuant to the FSAI Act, 1998 and the EC (Official Control of Foodstuffs) Regulations, 2010.

The Enforcement Orders were issued by the HSE’s Environmental Health Officers.
